US Weather Spotlight: 1-1-19

Storm system continues to quickly move through the northeast with precipitation chances gradually ending and winds gradually decreasing. A cold front will extend well southwest of the low center into the southeast with a few rain showers possible from the Carolinas southwest to the TX Gulf Coast. The front begins to retreat north overnight increasing shower chances in eastern TX, northern LA, and central MS.

Wind Chill Warnings and Advisories are in effect early today across much of the Plains with wind chills in the 35-45 below range in eastern ND, northeast SD, and northwest MN, 20-30 below from northeast MN to western KS, and possibly getting to 10 below in parts of the the OK and TX panhandles. Parts of the eastern Dakotas and western western MN may not even get above zero to begin the new year.  

Snow continues in the southern Rockies with the greatest chance for 6+ inches coming in NM.
