Further south through the central and northern Plains much of the precipitation will be rain until late this evening when west central NE, far west KS and far east CO change to snow with some of these areas having a chance at 3-7 inches of snow accumulating by Thursday morning. The rain with this system could be heavy at times with widespread 1-2 inch totals possible by Thursday morning in eastern NE, KS, and TX, northwest MO, much of IA, and southern MN.

Another system will affect the northwest today with rain shower chances from the Cascades westward and snow chances from the Cascades eastward into ID, western MT, and northern UT and NV with the higher snow totals in the Cascades of OR and WA.
