Weekend Weather Spotlight: 9-18-20

The majority of the country will continue to be in a quiet weather pattern through the weekend with the exception of the Northwest and the tropics. 

In the Northwest, a system will bring scattered showers to the region mainly Friday and Saturday with the bulk of the activity moving into Canada by Sunday. The heaviest showers look to mainly be today and tonight in northwest OR and western WA along and west of I-5. 

In the tropics, the remnants of Sally will continue to head out into the Atlantic with any heavier rain exiting the Mid-Atlantic coast early today. Attention then turns to the western Gulf of Mexico where Tropical Depression 22 is expected to become Wilfred later today and potentially become a hurricane later this weekend or early next week. This tropical system may act similar to Sally in regards to forecast predictability, movement, and heavy rain. Areas along the TX and LA Gulf Coasts could begin being affected by this system as early as overnight tonight or early Saturday.
